Deborah Marlene

Deborah was born "An Artist" and raised in the countryside, of Modesto, CA.

She began her art training in acrylics in 1969. She later worked in oils, and was commissioned for a large painting of antique bottles in High School. She took one oil painting class at Yuba College in 1993, and dabbled in oils... until she tried watercolors.

In 1997, Deborah began 3 1/2 years of Watercolor classes with the late Lura Francis, of Murphys.

She traveled twice, on painting trips, to the South of France with Lura and other artists from the Murphys area. In addition she has taken Watercolor workshops with several prominent local artists.

Deborah is a member of the Calaveras County Arts Council and the Arts of Bear Valley; showing in many of their venues. She has been juried into shows at Gallo and Ironstone. Deborah also showed at Art on Main in Murphys, in 2013.

Deborah ran her own Gallery, "Deborah Marlene's" in Mokelumne Hill, CA from September 28, 2013 to December 31, 2014. "It was my privilege to showcase 16 other Artists and Artisans during this time. I truly appreciate the behind the scenes work that is required of gallery owners." Besides being an Artist, I am a Certified Practitioner of Essential Feng Shui, with the time I now have, I will be reestablishing this business.

Deborah still continues to persue her own Artistic path and will be teaching individuals and workshops at Acme Art of Mokelumne Hill, located at Main and Center Streets in Mokelumne Hill.

Deborah's Mission is to teach watercolor and share with her students, her joy, excitement and colorful style.

Deborah attributes her style and subject matter to the surrounding nature here in Calaveras County, and to her love of vibrant color. "I feel blessed to live here surrounded by the inspiration of nature, daily."
